October! :)

So many great things have been happening in the Optional Kindergarten classroom! We've been writing words, writing numbers, discussing stories, counting objects, learning about trees and seasons, singing awesome songs and cutting and pasting! We are writing our names very well, and this week we'll be moving on to our last names!
Last week we had a visitor from Hungary. My sister, Eszter, came to spend the morning with us. She even taught us some Hungarian words! We found Eszter's country on the globe and also learned the name of the ocean she had to fly over on the airplane ride to America. Eszter owns and operates her own school in Budaors, Hungary. She's promised to Skype us and maybe she'll even teach us more Hungarian words! If your child can say thank you in Hungarian and tell you the name of the ocean Eszter flew over to get to Manson, leave the answers on my comment section. I'll have prizes for the correct answers! :)

The First Week!

It's been an exciting week in Optional Kindergarten! We were able to attend the MNW Flag Raising Ceremony, chased a gingerbread man through the halls of MNW, celebrated THREE birthdays with yummy treats, learned about F.A.M.I.L.Y. bus and school behavior, played letter catch, and also read some awesome books!  I've posted a few photos of our first days together.  Our classroom rules and procedures were introduced with the book, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? Please ask your child if they can tell you what a bucket filler is! They WILL know! :) If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me and I will be happy to help you! I hope you enjoy the photos.... :)

Welcome to OK! :)

I can remember my first principal raving about the smell of a new school year. Confused by her comment, I just smiled and continued working. I now understand her enthusiasm and am looking forward to those exciting scents. The aroma of freshly painted classrooms, sparkling waxed floors and brand-new vinyl backpacks gives me goose bumps! Maybe it's just the thought of a fresh beginning; new students, new parents, new colleagues, new schedules, new learning and new memories to be made. Either way, I am looking forward to the precious smiles, exciting learning and funny stories your children will share with me! I'll be posting many classroom updates, videos and photos to this blog, so please check back often. We're going to have a fabulous year together! :)
